Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney will miss their Europa League first-leg tie against Danish side FC Midtjylland because of a knee injury.

Rooney, who has scored seven goals in his past nine games, Van Gaal said: "He has a knee problem so we must wait and see."

As the United manager LVG sees this Europa League as an opportunity to win it, he commented.
